The state of Delaware uses the Danielson online program
in their statewide
teacher-training program

In 2009 the Delaware Department of Education purchased Educational Impact’s newly released online program entitled “Charlotte Danielson’s Teaching Framework: Looking at Real Classrooms.” They made the program a core component of their state wide “Mentoring and New Teacher” training program. Each new teacher (and their assigned mentor) uses the program as a visual representation of the domains and components of the framework - shown in action in real classrooms.

Mentors are assigned to observe each new teacher multiple times during their first year, and review their performance after each observation.  Based on evidence collected from the observation, each new teacher works with their mentor to target a specific domain and component for professional growth.  The new teacher is assigned videos from the Educational Impact online program that relate to the domain chosen. This allows the new teacher to model the real teachers featured in the program and incorporate strategies viewed in the video into their own practice.

With Educational Impact’s release of a second and third Danielson online programs, the Delaware Department of Education is now incorporating the full three program series into their training agenda. This includes expanding the use of the third Danielson program (Teacher Evaluation Using the Danielson Framework) into their statewide administrator professional development.
